Upwash
i. The upward movement of air ahead of the leading edge of a subsonic wing, giving a positive lift.
ii. The upward movement of air around the outside of the trailing vortex behind a wing, giving a positive lift. This upwash usually curves over to become a downwash on the inner side of the vortex.
